Visual music is music that you can see. It’s synesthesia come to life. I would argue that the most basic form of visual music is a visual pattern. After all, what is music if not pattern?

This project was developed for an animation course taught by Pam Turner. While visual music has gained prominence in the past century, it has deeper historical roots. Early examples include keyboards with synchronized lighting systems that responded to specific keys with specific colors. The concept also connects to the compositional philosophies of Alexander Scriabin and extends back to ancient ideas about the “music of the spheres.” These historical foundations provided the primary inspiration for this work.
